Remote operation,
centralized management.

Connections, collaboration and administration in one workspace, for clearer remote support and everyday operations.

Remote desktop in your browser

View Windows desktops, use the keyboard and mouse, and open full-screen or separate session windows without installing a standalone Viewer.

  • Switch devices in a workspace with multiple sessions
  • H.264 video with hardware encoding and software fallback
  • Responsive mobile workspace with touch controls
Mobile full-screen and landscape behavior depend on the browser.

Manage multiple devices

View device cards and desktop thumbnails, organize devices into groups, and maintain names, notes and enabled status.

Permissions and operation audits

Assign access by user and device. The server grants and renews control leases, and records key events such as logins and device management.

Text and file clipboard collaboration

With Windows LocalBridge and an active control lease, synchronize text and copy files or folders. File contents are read in chunks on demand.

Admin workspace

Manage users, permissions, audit logs, system settings, media, client downloads and Agent updates in one place.

Organize by group,
grant access by business need.

Device groups connect endpoint organization with user permissions. Group devices by department, store, project or maintenance scope.

Device details and groups

  • Create, edit and delete groups

Set group names and descriptions, view device counts, and change a device's group from its details page.

  • Device cards show current status

See the device name, ID, group, online status, last online time and desktop thumbnail. Filter by group and sort by name or last online time.

  • Manage device availability

Administrators maintain names, notes and enabled status. Active viewing or control sessions must end before a device can be disabled.

  • Clear rules for group changes

Deleting a custom group moves its devices to the protected system group, “Ungrouped”. The devices are retained.

View, control, copy and paste,
within granted permissions.

Video, keyboard and mouse control, and clipboard collaboration have separate states. With viewing access, request control when needed.

Browser remote sessions

  • Separate windows and multiple sessions

Open a remote window from a device card. Administrators can use session tabs, exclusive mode or a card wall to view multiple devices.

  • Control managed through leases

Viewing and control are authorized separately. Operate input after obtaining control; release, disconnection or lease expiry clears the input state.

  • Connection details for troubleshooting

The remote window shows the actual codec, resolution, frame rate and UDP/TCP status for both publishing and viewing connections. Full-screen, refresh and end-session controls are available.

  • Desktop and mobile access

Mobile browsers offer a responsive workspace and touch controls. Desktop Edge can install the site as a separate PWA window. Mobile full-screen and landscape depend on the browser; the PWA still requires an online connection.

Text and file clipboard

  • Automatic pairing through Windows LocalBridge

With control granted, the browser pairs the local computer with the target Agent. Releasing control or disconnecting clears the current binding.

  • Text synchronization and target switching

Synchronize Unicode text and receive delivery confirmation after the target Agent writes it to the clipboard. Switching devices pairs with the new control target.

  • Files and folders transferred on demand

File metadata is shared first; contents are read in chunks when pasted, with folder hierarchy supported. Administrators configure size, concurrency and rate limits.

  • Limited collection of collaboration data

The server does not store complete files on disk or log local absolute paths. LocalBridge shows connection status, pause/resume controls and activity with sensitive details removed.

Who can view and control,
decided by the administrator.

Administrators maintain the system. Standard users access authorized groups, with clipboard and file capabilities configured separately.

Users and sign-in management

  • Maintain user details and account status

Create administrator or standard accounts, maintain phone numbers and notes, enable or disable accounts, and support password resets and first-login password changes.

  • Group permissions with bulk settings

Set each user's access level for each group. Apply “View only” or “View and control” across the current groups, then adjust individual groups.

  • Server-enforced authorization

Management endpoints check administrator identity. Remote sessions, control and file requests also check valid login, device permissions and control ownership.

  • Account sessions and secure connections

HTTPS/WSS, encrypted login and session validation protect access. Signing in elsewhere with the same account invalidates the old session and cleans up its remote and clipboard resources.

Separate additional permissions

Text clipboard synchronization and file-content transfer can each be allowed or denied. Control permission does not automatically enable file transfer.

Explore audit coverage

Key actions recorded,
with context for investigation.

Administrators review events under System Status → Management Audit. Audit shortcuts on users and devices open the corresponding filters.

What is recorded

Accounts and sessions
Successful or failed logins, logout, password changes, user creation and account enable/disable, session replacement and forced logout.
Devices and permissions
Device changes, group creation/editing/deletion, access and additional permission changes, control acquisition/release and related failures.
Operations and collaboration
System and media configuration, media service management, Agent update publishing, download package publishing/removal, and file Offer creation or cancellation.

How to review events

  • Identify the time, actor and target

Each event includes its time, operator, action type, target type, target ID and relevant details. Success and failure events depend on the particular operation.

  • Combine filters and look back

Filter by action, operator, group or device. The latest 50 records appear first in reverse chronological order, with an option to load earlier events.

  • Retention and privacy

The database keeps the latest 10,000 audit records and automatically removes older entries. Passwords, login tickets and clipboard contents are not recorded.

Audits trace recorded operation events. For longer retention, discuss database backup and retention arrangements during private deployment.

Publish Agent updates,
track progress centrally.

Administrators publish a Windows Agent ZIP and release notes under Client Updates. The server assigns increasing versions, and devices check automatically through heartbeats.

  1. 1

    Publish and validate

Supports incremental ZIP packages and backup/overwrite publishing modes. Package structure, paths and expanded size are checked; file size and SHA-256 information are generated.

  2. 2

    Download and stage

The Agent checks download length and SHA-256 before extracting to a staging directory. Downloading and staging can run during existing sessions.

  3. 3

    Wait for idle

Once ready, the package waits for existing remote sessions to end. Approved maintenance temporarily rejects new sessions before installation begins.

  4. 4

    Back up and replace

Automatic updates create a transaction backup before overwriting, coordinate process shutdown, stop the service and replace files while preserving configuration, data and logs.

  5. 5

    Check and report

After restarting, the service checks connectivity, desktop-host status and a fresh heartbeat. Success and the effective release version are reported to the admin workspace.

Track each device's status

View current/latest/target versions, online status, last heartbeat and update results. Filter by device or version status to identify waiting, installation, failures or rollback.

Recovery after failure or interruption

Recoverable failures roll back using a completed backup. Service or system restarts resume from persisted transactions. If safe recovery cannot be confirmed, maintenance remains active and manual attention is reported.

Scope and installation requirements

Automatic updates currently target Windows Agent. The initial baseline package must include Updater. Update packages are limited to 512 MiB; incremental contents must match the deployed client.

Installation briefly restarts the Agent service. Publishing is audited, while devices and the server keep separate update logs for troubleshooting by version, stage, outcome and error code.

Settings, media and clients,
managed in one console.

From device onboarding to daily operations, administrators can review health, adjust policies and manage client packages.

System status and settings

  • View Server, Agent connection and media component status.
  • Configure heartbeats, thumbnails, text/file limits, concurrency, rates and log capacity.
  • Set resolution, frame rate, bitrate and cursor display for hardware and software encoding separately.
  • Validate, save, apply or roll back settings. Port changes indicate when a restart is required.

Media management

  • View media service status and publishing/viewing sessions.
  • Filter by session type, path or device and inspect connection details with sensitive information removed.
  • Manage selected sessions, review sanitized logs and adjust media settings.
  • Administrators can start, stop or restart media services. Stopping checks active sessions; configuration and management operations are audited.

Client download management

  • Publish full ZIP packages for Agent and LocalBridge separately.
  • Maintain optional release notes and view size, upload time and SHA-256.
  • Public download links appear on the login page and can be withdrawn by administrators.
  • One current package is kept per category, managed separately from Agent automatic updates.

Standard users use remote features within their permissions. User management, system settings, media management, update publishing and downloads are administrator functions.

Frequently asked questions

Can I deploy RemoteDesk privately?

Yes. Control and media services can run on your own servers, with device Agents connecting to your chosen server. Contact support to discuss your network, server requirements and deployment arrangements.

Which systems do remote devices support?

The remote Agent currently targets Windows. Management and remote desktop access use a web browser, with a responsive workspace on mobile. Confirm browser-specific capabilities in the test environment.

What is needed for file clipboard collaboration?

Browser viewing and control do not require a standalone Viewer. Text and file clipboard collaboration require RemoteDesk LocalBridge on your local Windows computer, paired under a valid control lease.

How do device groups relate to permissions?

Each device belongs to a group. Administrators give users no access, view-only access, or viewing and control for that group. Text synchronization and file-content transfer are separate additional permissions.

Do automatic updates interrupt active sessions?

Packages can download and stage in advance. Installation waits for existing remote sessions to end, blocks new sessions under approved maintenance, and briefly restarts the Agent service. Failures and interruptions use transactions and completed backups for recovery.

Where are audit logs, and how long are they kept?

Administrators review System Status → Management Audit or use audit buttons on users and devices. The latest 10,000 records are retained, with filters and earlier-record loading. Discuss backups during deployment for longer retention.

How do I request a test administrator account?
